  1. What is a flag?

A flag is a real-world, geographic bookmark that can have a title, an address, a description, tags, and even pictures. By default, all flags are public, and specifically delivered to the Summary pages of those who count you as a friend.

  2. What is a map?

Maps are a way to organize, share, and discuss your favorite places under a theme or idea that you define. You can create private maps that only you can contribute to ("My favorite Photo places") or public maps ("San Francisco Dog Lovers Map") that will allow others to add to your map as well.

  3. How do I add a flag online?

You can flag online by signing into your Flagr account and clicking the ‘Add a Flag’ link on your Summary page. There's also a tab on your Flags page that will allow you to add a flag just the same. If you want to add a flag directly to a map, visit the map's page and click the "Add Flag" tab beneath the map. Check out the Online How-To to learn more.

  4. How do I flag from my mobile phone?

It's pretty easy. Check out the Mobile How-To to learn more.

  5. What is a mobile map code?

A mobile map code is a unique email address that allows you to send a flag directly to a particular map from your mobile device. You simply compose a text message to [map code]@flagr.com and your flag is added to the map automatically. Check out the Mobile How-To to learn more.

  6. Can I really send a text or picture message to an email address?

Yes! It‘s surprising but the vast majority of mobile phones can send to email addresses without having to set up an email account on your phone.

  7. What is the "default zipcode" and when is it used?

This is so we can figure out who and what's in your area to enhance your Flagr experience.
It's kept completely private, so you can boast you live on Mars in your profile if you're into that sort of thing, but still get the information that's relevant to you. Plus, if you live in the United States, you won't have to specify a city when flagging in your area. For example, someone with a default zipcode of San Francisco CA can enter ‘10 market’ instead of ‘10 market San Francisco CA.’ Cool, huh?

  8. I’m not in the United States. Can I still use Flagr?

Of course! You can add flags online by double clicking on the map! Currently, Flagr supports addresses and mobile phones in the United States. The mapping companies are working really hard to map every street in the world, so you can expect to see this change rapidly in the coming months and years. We want international mobile support as badly as you do.

  9. Do you have any tips to enhance my flagging experience?

    1. When entering an address (online or on your phone), you can leave out street, drive, lane or any of the abbreviations. '10 Market Street', 10 Market St, or 10 Market are all the same to Flagr.
    2. Add x@flagr.com, or any mobile map code as a contact on your mobile phone so you don‘t have to retype it every time you flag.
    3. Specify a default zipcode on your account page so you no longer need to enter a city while flagging in your area.
  10. Shouldn't Flagr have an E? and another G for that matter...

    Nope.
